At the end of such a difficult year, it was very special to have some joy brought to Fernleigh Green on Christmas Eve. For the third year running Hayley Horsfield organised the Christmas Tree challenge and local children made baubles to hang on the tree. Roger Whyborn, Adrian and myself got the lights working on the tree, so they have been coming on each day since the middle of December. Then a little miracle happen and the Salvation Army band played Christmas Music on the move, stopping under lamp posts and playing a few verses for everyone to hear from the safety of their own homes. The walk took well over an hour and everywhere the band went, curtains twitched then people came to their doors or front gardens (childen in PJs) In Denbigh road, one gentleman took a seat in his front garden and a mother and daughter danced along the pavement. How did the band manage to keep their fingers working in the cold?

All the children who made decorations are going to be given some chocolate and the prize winners have Hobbycraft vouchers. First prize went to the Addinall family, second prize went Henry and Charlie and third prize to Lee Baker's boys.
